About the journal

Before I was a doctor, I was a writer.

Straight out of high school, I pursued a Bachelor of Journalism on full scholarship. I was captivated by the power of language—the way it shapes perception, sparks action, and helps us make meaning.

Eventually, I shifted paths. I was awarded the entrance scholarship to medical school and chose to study medicine, knowing that healing people would require both science and story. I’ve spent decades practicing clinical medicine and learning the science of longevity. But I’ve never stopped writing. And I’ve never stopped believing that what we say—and how we say it—matters deeply.

That’s why The Journal exists. Its name is intentional:

  • A medical journal reflects evidence and data.
  • A personal journal reflects inner truth and self-connection.

The Journal lives at the intersection of those two spaces. Here, I share trusted longevity insights—alongside reflections that invite presence, purpose, and pause. It’s where science meets soul. And it’s a reminder that aging well isn’t just about what you do—it’s about how you live, and what you pay attention to.

We talk a lot about mitochondria, hormones, and even genetics in longevity medicine — but one of the most powerful determinants of how you age is living inside you right now: your microbiome.
Your heart doesn’t age at the same pace as the rest of you. Recent research shows men’s hearts often appear nearly a decade “older” than their chronological age, while women experience a steep rise in risk after menopause when estrogen’s protective effects wane.
Everywhere I look lately, the word longevity is trending. It’s on wellness podcasts, splashed across magazine covers, woven into the latest biohacking fads. Depending on who you ask, longevity medicine is either the future of healthcare—or just another over-hyped buzzword. There’s a lot of noise, and people are right to wonder: what actually is longevity medicine?
